And then there were 2!!

Sad news this week, as both Judy and Mark reluctantly pulled out of the marathon owing to injuries sustained during their training. I know they are both gutted to be missing out, having done so much groundwork, and so close to the date……and both Steve & I wish them a swift recovery.
So the pressure´s now on for the two of us, and we are both beginning to feel it!! I´ve tried desperately to up my miles this week, and even bought a pedometer/distance monitor, as i really have no idea how far´I´ve been running in training. I got quite excited when I tried it out for the first time last Sunday….did about 1 hr 20 mins…..looked at the monitor, and it read 16.8 miles…whoop, whoop!!…………..Then i put my glasses on and realised it was bloody kilometeres……………instant depression ensued!! I tried to placate myself, by blaming it on the fact i hadn´t calculated my running stride correctly, but it´s still disappointing.
So yesterday, with the sun shining, and a warm breeze blowing from the South…….I set off again. It was 23 degs, a 10 degree rise in temperature from Sunday…….and boy could I notice it!! I got severely dehydrated, and struggled after about 75 minutes. 21 kilometers was the final reading……….a half marathon…in about 1 hr 45 miniutes, over a hilly terrain, so I feel a little happier………knackered from too many spin and afterburn classes, but ready to have one last try on Sunday for a 2 hour plus run……..then rest from running for the week´s run up to the big day…….well that´s my plan anyway!!
